I do that exercise ...
I do that exercise combo in some of my workout programs. And after you do a few it really rapes your energy. Good stuff.

Yeah, I agree with ...
Yeah, I agree with what some other people have said. He has her using dumbells he'd be using, not ones she should be using. This is a pretty complex workout with lots of steps to it (considering typical exercises have 2 steps, up and back down), and with all the wobbling it's clear she'd be better served with lighter weights.
That aside, it's a pretty solid exercise. Gets a lot of muscle groups involved directly, as well as others (like your core for stabalizing) indirectly.

Yet as a good ...
Yet as a good trainer, I wouldn't give a newbie client an advance workout like this.

Also to clear ...
Also to clear something up. "Heavy" is relative. For example, say y > x. Doing 20-30 reps with x pound dumbells will get you no where when you could "easily" do 8-10 reps with y pounds.

Do whatever is heavy for YOU not the person standing next to you.

Just to clear up ...
Just to clear up some things. There is no such thing as toning muscle by using light weights. "Toned" muscle is visible muscle due to hypertrophy and low fat. Aka lift as heavy as you can(for 8-12 reps) and eat right/cardio.
